Northern Pike Fishing

While the East Arm of Great Slave Lake is predominately known as a World Class Lake Trout fishery, its shallow bays and channels are also home to an abundance of Northern Pike – ferocious and bold predator that offers our clients another incredible fishing experience! These hard hitting and lightning fast fish provide almost constant all-day action and can be a nice change of pace for anglers that want the whole Frontier Experience.

What’s the best way to catch them, you ask? Spoons, jerk baits, bucktail spinners and swim baits all work, but these opportunistic predators will take a swipe at just about anything! If you’re looking for a real rush, pull out the fly rod or the top water baits and try your hand at sight casting! There’s nothing quite like hooking into a fish that you spotted and specifically targeted with one perfectly placed cast!

At Frontier, our pike average between 5 and 15 pounds, and trophy sized fish in the 40″-50″ category are caught on a regular basis. Late June to mid-July has traditionally been prime time for targeting Northern Pike, but our professional and experienced guides will always be able to put you on fish.
